Pre-treated water—typically high-quality permeate from a Single or Double-Pass Reverse Osmosis (RO) system—is fed directly into the EDI module's dilute chambers.
Inside the dilute chambers, mixed-bed ion exchange resins quickly capture and hold any residual dissolved mineral ions (cations and anions) present in the feed water.
A direct current (DC) electric field is applied across the module. This forces the captured ions to migrate through selective membranes out of the product water and into adjacent concentrate chambers.
The electrical current simultaneously splits water molecules into Hydrogen (H+) and Hydroxyl (OH-) ions, which continuously and automatically regenerate the resin, maintaining peak performance.
