The last date for filing annual returns by PIBO for 2022-23 has been extended

The Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India (GoI) recently extended the last date for filing annual returns by PIBOs. According to the Plastic Waste Management (PWM) Rules, 2016, introduced by the ministry, you can now file your returns by 31st October 2023. Read on to know the complete details

You must register on the Centralised EPR Portal to file the Annual Returns. Also, the EPR target for FY 2023-24 of registered Producers, Importers and Brand Owners (PIBOs) for plastic packaging will be auto-generated. But this will be done only when you file Annual Returns for 2022-23 according to the norms made on the EPR portal.

Moreover, all registered PIBOs must note that the Provisional EPR target for 2023-24 will be calculated according to the formula given below -

Provisional EPR Target for 2023 - 24 = (EPR Target for 2022 - 23)/(0.7)

The Provisional Target for 2023 - 24 will apply until the actual EPR Target is generated upon Annual Return filling for 2022 - 23.

Apart from all these, registered PIBOs must fulfil their Extended Producer Responsibility obligations according to the above points. EPR for Plastic PIBO mentions all the necessary details to be adhered to.
